Lead poisoning is a potential hazard in industries which use lead-based chemicals, or where breathing in lead dust or fumes is possible.  Companies are required by the HSE to monitor lead levels and maintain a health register for everyone engaged in potentially hazardous processes.  We are able to offer biological monitoring of lead through blood testing and help you implement a health surveillance programme to protect your employees from lead poisoning.  We will ensure that all relevant paperwork is forwarded to the HSE in accordance with the Control of Lead at Work paperwork Regulations 2002 approved code of practice and guidance, and your COSSH records.

 Now known as HAVS but still commonly referred to as Vibration White Finger.  Employees, who work with vibrating tools including power tools, will require regular HAVS screening under the COSHH Regulations.  Any employee with any symptom suggestive of HAVS or any relevant medical history is seen by the occupational physician for further assessment.

We can help you to meet your legal obligations in vision screening, by providing a Keystone Vision Screening Programme Service which may form part of fitness for work assessments.

We can provide this for individuals or in the form of a surveillance programme, as under the Control of Noise at Work and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. You will receive advice on fitness for work and any restriction on an employee’s ability to work in a noisy area due to health risks; noise induced hearing loss or suspected failure of control methods.

Please note a baseline Audiogram should be taken routinely prior to commencing employment.

Certain substances are subject to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH). We can help you by providing a respiratory health surveillance programme, with full lung function testing at specified periods and will give advice on any restrictions following testing. Any cases of possible occupational asthma will be referred to the occupational physician.
